Welcome Back, Mom!

This morning, Mom finally got to come back to step class with me! She broke her ankle three months ago and it's finally healed enough to return to class. To surprise her, our classmates Sally and Joyce and our instructor Kay decorated the aerobics room and brought snacks and juice!

Sally decorated with streamers and balloons!:

Mom is checking out the decorations while Joyce looks on.

They even made a sign! I made a "WELCOME BACK MOM" tank top!

Summer said "hey now, it's too early for photos!"

WELCOME BACK, MOM!

Cheap Wine Party at Clark & Anne's

Tonight, Clark and Anne hosted a cheap wine party. The idea was to bring a bottle of cheap, horrible wine, and the worst would win a prize! Ben and I hunted down the American Classic, Thunderbird:

Because we knew it would be disgusting, we decided to also bring delicious cheap wine items to enjoy. The makings for the infamous ghetto mimosas, with a twist! FLAVORED cheap champagne! A bottle of raspberry and a bottle of peach.

There was a wide variety of beverages at the party. BOTH flavors of Wild Irish Rose.

Ryan brought a cornucopia of cheap beverages!

Ben making himself a ghetto mimosa.

Snack table!! There were mini pbj, mini blogna and cheese, little debbies, salami with pickles and cream cheese, and a cheese tray!

Closeup of the cheese tray because hello, delicious:

Clark bought a can of Budweiser & Clamato Chelada. We decided to save it for later.

Ben was like, "alcohol removed? what the." Oh and that "Fre" is pronounced "Free" in case you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to know.

Seagram's Gin & Juice in Tropical Thunder and Blue Beast flavors.

LOOK! A little BABY Wild Irish Rose! Awwww!!

This is Anne and I sampling the white Wild Irish Rose.

Laughing at how sick it is. It was DISGUSTING. It tasted like a biology experiment.

Sipping on gin and juice.

If you mix Tropical Thunder with Blue Beast you get Greenish Brown!

Okay, it is time. This is a chelada with tomato and CLAM JUICE.

Bottom's up!

Expecting it to be disgusting.

But, hey! He kinda likes it! It's not bad!

Ben and I didn't mind it either! I don't know if I could do a whole can, but a sip was pretty okay!

Unicorn Pegacheezwiz!

Jenny arrived with a late addition to the party: Haight Ashberry. Purchased for TWENTY FIVE CENTS. A quarter!!! It was disgusting.

But was it disgusting ENOUGH to win the prize? Anne is getting ready to announce the winner!

And the winner for the most disgusting wine of all is Thunderbird! Congratulations to me and Ben!

There was all sorts of awesome stuff in the prize package, including cheap wine in a JUICE BOX!!! Portable and convenient!

Don't forget to grab a party favor! Includes: H20, powdered sports drink mix, and ibuprofen.

The next morning we went to the Banana Bean for brunch, and Ben got the Chipotle Burger. Look at how HUGE!

I got a fish taco with key-lime basil swordfish and it was SO SO SO SO SO SO GOOD.

Bacon Bacon Cooking Club

Mmm! Tonight we had cooking club at Summer's house! We started off with some amaretto cocktails.

Yumi made this carrot soup with star anise that was so light and fluffy like a CLOUD!

Suzanne made this feta that was baked in a hot hot pan with hot hot oil and hot hot honey and I burned myself on it TWO TIMES. It was worth it, though.

Serving suggestion: atop a cracker, with a slice of beet, some honey, and some cracked pepper. MMM!

Ohmygod Nancy's salad. It was spinach with dried cranberries, apples, and this warm bacon dressing with so much glorious bacon. SO GOOD.

Summer made the main course, which was totally awesome pork wrapped in bacon, with potatoes, dates and apples. BACON TWICE IN ONE NIGHT!

I forgot to take a picture of my orange cardamom cake!
Look, Friday almost had Ash's entire head in her mouth:

Summer and Friday!

Happy dog!

Enough pictures already!

Okay, there are a lot of pictures of the following activity but it deserves a lot of attention because it is something really special. One of my hidden talents is that I can make INCREDIBLY realistic and amazing hand-mouth fart sounds. Nancy had never heard this before, and Summer captured her reactions on film:

She is like "No way! NO EVEN WAY!!"

It is ALWAYS FUNNY.

Seriously amazed:

Nancy can do it too!

Except it's really hard to keep doing it and NOT take a break to laugh.

I'm seriously considering open stage.
